Welcome on the first blog post of Crime@UGent. Through this blog, we want to tell you more about the research of our young and senior researchers who are member of the IDC Crime, Criminology and Criminal Policy. This way, we try to inform as many people as possible about these instructive researches.
What is IDC Crime, Criminology and Criminal Policy?
The IDC Crime is one of the ten interdisciplinary research consortia related to the social sciences and humanities at Ghent University. The focus of the research is on deviant behaviour and the policy response to it. 21 Professors at Ghent University are members of the consortium and together they come from four different faculties, namely:
- Faculty of Law and Criminology
- Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences
- Faculty of Political and Social Sciences
- Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences
The consortium fosters knowledge translation and exchange, strengthening
societal value creation leading to societal impact and stimulates
synergies and cooperation with external academic, policy and practice
partners from different disciplines.
The stakeholders of the IDC Crime are very diverse:

- Policymakers
